A typical example of eclectic architecture of the city. The building was constructed from 1860-1863 by L.Bonšteta. In 1882, the building completely burned, but from 1885-1887 by RGŠmēlinga's project it was reconstructed and restored. A canal extension was built for a boiler and power plant. The first function of the building was the first city theater. Opera Theatre building houses since 1919.
