Operational as part of a multi-location communications site built around the Chievres Air Force Base, the Chievres site was at one time the sole troposcatter site in the AFCENT-Belgium ACE High Network and served as a terminal station for telecommunications from the Lamersdorf Primary Control Center. Via adjacent sites the site was connected to Supreme HQ Allied Powers Europe at Casteau via a microwave link.

Following the withdrawal of France from NATO in 1966, the Chievres site was expanded to include a second microwave link to the station at Adinkerke as the link to/from the Mainland to the UK was rerouted off French soil. The site operated in this fashion for the duration of the Cold War and was shut down in 1995. The site has since been demolished and resold for private ownership.
