THis is a typical shiwambo house, some westerners would call it a kraal, but it is a house.
Many traditions, including the western tradition, had their traditional houses as one hut or two, but the Oshiwambo traditional it is an insult for one to have a single hut, or even two, and have it consdered as a house.
These huts are used as bedrooms, kitchen, stting rooms, louge, store rooms, silos, entertainment rooms, pretty very much what we find in modern uper class houses (no wonder many regarded the Oshiwambo people as wealthy people)
Each maleand females has to have his/her own room, inclunding the man of the house who could have more than one wife each with her own bedroom, kitchen, etc.
The houses are build on the crop fields, and could be changed/moved around that field as the owner wishes (which used to be a perfect opportunity for yet another feasting time.
