subdivision (housing subdivision), NRHP - National Register of Historic Places, historic district, American Foursquare (architecture), American Craftsman (architecture)
Residential subdivision listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), where it is designated a historic district. The district encompasses a well-preserved and cohesive early 20th-century worker housing area in Bristol. Located on Sherman, Mills and Putnam Streets, the area was built out in a four-month period in 1916-17, and is the largest such development in the city. The development was constructed in response to housing shortages for workers of the local New Departure Manufacturing Company, a subsidiary of General Motors. The dwellings consist of one and two-family homes rendered in the American Craftsman style.
