Korea (South) / Kangwon / Sokcho / Jeonjin-ri

Uisangdae is a small pavilion located on a seaside cliff, on the way to Hongryeonam’s Gwaneum Cave from Naksan temple. It is on the site where a small temple was, believed to have been built by Ambassador Uisang (625~702) during King Munmu’s (661~681) reign during Silla Period, on the spot where Uisang used to meditate while building Naksansa. The current pavilion was built in 1925. It is built atop a rocky cliff, making the sunrise from Uisangdae absolutely spectacular.
