Altinópolis is a Brazilian city in São Paulo state. Its location is latitude 21º1" south and longitude 47º22" west. Its population was estimated in 2004 em 16.425 inhabitants. Its area is 929,50Km². History - it was Distrito "Mato Grosso de Batatais", and a public election defined the name Altinópolis, to recognize ex-governor Altino Arantes. The city started with some immigrants that came to work in the agricultural field, and that time appeared the Train Station in 1909 to perpetuade the place. The rail road goes to Ribeirão Preto, unfortunately it is abandoned nowadays. However the Train Station is well conserved, and it was the highest part of the way to Minas Gerais. From the Municipal Park, that is 1.200 m high, you have a sight of 360º and it is possible to see 16 cities around.
