Gunung Nyiut-Penrisse Nature Reserve is appointed and determined based on the Decree of the Director General of Forestry No. 2240 / DJ / I / 1981 dated 15 June 1981 (Designation as a Nature Reserve covering an area of 140,000 ha), Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 542 / Kpts / Um / 4/1982 On 21 January 1982 (Change of status as Wildlife Reserve covering an area of 180,000 ha), Decree of the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No. 059 / Kpts-II / 1988 dated 29 February 1988 (Designation as a Nature Reserve covering an area of 124,500 ha).
Geographical location of this area is located between 0 ° 45 '40 "- 1 ° 04" 12 "North Latitude and 109 ° 44" 45 "-109 ° 51" 24 "East Longitude. Administratively, it is part of Bengkayang Regency, Landak Regency and Sanggau Regency. General topography includes areas that are flat, hilly, undulating and peak areas.
The prominent flora potential is orchids and several other rare plant species such as Patma Flowers (Rafflesia Tuan-Mudae). Low montane rain forests are dominated by Dipterocarpaceae and Euphorbiaceae, while in moderate mountain rain forests, hilly Dipterocarpaceae are dominated.
Fauna potential, including several protected fauna types such as Sun Bear (Herlactos malayanus), Kelempiau (Hylobates muelleri muelleri), Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), Pangolin (Manis javanica), Hedgehog (Hysterix branchyura), Napu (Tragulus napu), Sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), Ruwai bird (Argusianus argus), Rhino hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros). Another attraction of this area are waterfalls and beautiful panoramas. The Habitat and ecosystem types in this area are lowland forest, hilly and mountainous vegetation types.
