Home to shorebirds, seal lions, and harbor seals.

Back in the day it was a major source of bird guano excavation that ultimately hurt many bird populations. Today, you can look at the island through telescopes from the shore along the famous 17-mile-drive, and the squirrels who inhabit the rocks are so tame that they run up to you for food. --It freaks you out when you first step out of the car and are swarmed by squirrels. =P
