castle ruins, Medieval / Middle Ages

The castle of Castelfeder (which would be Castello Vetero, "old castle," in standard Italian) is now in ruins, with the better-preserved structures near its northeastern corner. It is identified as the fortress of Ennemase, the last of a string of Lombard strongholds attacked by the Franks in 587. The present structure was built by the lords of Enn later, in or before the 13th century (when it was mentioned in 1280).
