On the basis of Council of Ministers on March 19, 1981, it was decided to create an artificial reservoir Kotovsky. In the period from 1982-1985 year was conducted preparatory work. In 1994 he was the overlap of the river. And by the end of 1995 was finally completed construction of the dam. This lake is narrow (average width of 2 km), deep (mean depth 4.6 m), surface area 22.15 km2 volume of water in the bowl 91.96 million m 3, it stretches for 12.5 km.
