An Oyirad Jungar fortress located just east of a channel of the Kal'dzhir (Qalzhyr) river. It was known as the "Chinese fortress" ("Kitaiskaya Krepost'"), but has been identified as a fortress and monastery built by the Buddhist Jungars in the 17th century. Like others of its type, it centered on a Buddhist temple or monastery and was fortified on the sides not protected by a natural feature, in this instance the river. It has been tentatively identified as Boshuqtu-Khan-kit, the monastery (kit, qiyid) of Galdan Boshuqtu (r. 1671-1697), but the identification remains unproven. The site is located almost 5 km southeast of the modern village of Qalzhyr (Chernyaevka).
