Syreneset fort is a German coastal fort from World War II by Syre at Karmøy. The fort was completed in February 1943 as part of Artillery group Karmøy-Syd. It was fitted with five 12.2 cm ex-Russian field guns. The crew bunkers are of type R655, and are the only of their kind in Norway. The guns had a range of about 21,000 meters. The fort also commanded two 12 cm Schneider-Canet tower cannons, which covered the entrance to Skudeneshavn. These cannons were taken from Trøgstad fort in Østfold. One canon is now set up again at Fredriksten fortress, where it had stood until 1906. Crew bunkers of type R 655 are for Norway's part only on Acid and are not built anywhere else in the country. The fort is well camouflaged in the terrain.
From the command bunker you had a view all the way to Utsira.
Syreneset fort was built by Russian forced laborers. At the entrance to the fort there were flame casters, which could be activated by a button in the guardhouse. These were never used, but were well hidden.
When the war was over, civilians came and burned the master party, but all of the concrete is today.
