Lindale Mall has a long and rich history within the Cedar Rapids community opening in 1960 as an open-air strip center called Lindale Plaza. At the time of its opening, Lindale was Iowa’s largest shopping mall with 35 stores. Anchors included Younkers, Sears and Killians department stores. The center was converted to an enclosed mall in 1980 with Von Maur replacing Killians. To this day, area residents who grew up with the center reminisce and often look at Lindale with much nostalgia.

A renovation and expansion in 1997 added 56,000 square feet of retail and food court space, a 500-seat food court, a total interior remodel and facelift including new amenities and skylights, as well as a 500-stall parking deck. The expansion brought 13 new stores to the shopping center enhancing the mall’s already diversified mix of national, regional and local retailers.

Today, Lindale Mall continues to provide it’s community with great shopping and exceptional service.RW3
