Oleksandr Vertynskyi (or Alexander Vertinsky, 1889 - 1957) was a Russian poet, singer, composer, cabaret artist and actor who exerted influence on the Russian tradition of artistic singing.
He was born in Kyiv, studied at the First Kyiv Gymnasium, worked in Russia, Greece, Poland, Romania, France, USA, China.
The monument was unveiled on March 18, 2019.
The sculptor Borys Dovhan depicted Vertinsky in the stage image of Pierrot, in which he recited his poems.
