The atrium, officially known as the Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre, is the centrepiece of an £11million development by Sheffield Hallam University to support high-quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities. As well as the centre – which boasts galleries, collaborative spaces and social learning and provides access from the train station – the development includes a cutting-edge chemistry lab and modern new engineering provision.
