The National Theatre & Cultural Centre was established in 1981, in the heart of the capital of the UAE, under the direction of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Managed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, the theatre houses a 2,253 seater auditorium with a stage and state-of-the-art lighting, sound and film equipment. It also incorporates a lecture and conference hall which can accommodate 150 people, and a multi-purpose hall for arts and crafts exhibitions.

The contemporary designed Cultural Centre, which is an annex to the National Theatre, hosts cultural and artistic activities. It also includes a conference and seminar hall with a capacity of 90 people and two exhibition halls which displays 100 paintings, sculptures and other works of art by UAE artists.
