The main land areas of the reserve are located in mountainous areas at an altitude of 2200-2400 m above sea level, Batabat Lake and Bichenak Pass. It has very rich natural resources in the arid climate of Nakhchivan MR. It covers the southern slopes of the Darelaez range and the western slopes of the Zangzur range. Alpine, subalpine and meadows are formed in the high mountainous part. At the same time, the famous Ganel lake is included in this reserve in the territory of Batabat lakes.
