Areas of significance: Engineering; Agriculture
Area: about 40 acres
Date added to NRHP: 4/22/1980
Other designations: listed on the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties
Notes: This site is associated with the Havemeyer-Willcox canal system which began as early as 1902 when the Hallett Ditch was promoted by William Willcox. Through marriage in 1904, he joined forces with the Havemeyer family of New York City. The Havemeyer firm incorporated in Colorado in 1909 and pursued its interest in the production of sugar beets. There was originally a pump house located between the forebay (which still stands) and I-70, but it has since been destroyed.
