An archaeological site comprising several mounds (tells) northwest of Nippur in southern Mesopotamia. The archaeological remains indicate occupation during the Parthian and Sasanid periods, and a gradual decline during the early Islamic period that followed. Occupation later in the Middle Ages declined considerably. The ancient name of the site remains uncertain.
