The Bohle Transmitter Station site is a site of approximately 484 hectares, located 10 kilometres west of Townsville. The station is a communications facility used by Defence and forms part of the Modernised High Frequency Communications System, which includes a
network of other similar sites around Australia. Built in 1940's.

Base activities are benign in terms of potentially contaminating activities; however there are three above ground diesel storage tanks located around the building compound.
