1770s construction, ventilating shaft, Grade II Listed (UK)

Air shaft above Barnton Tunnel. Probably late C18 origins. Brick with upper courses rebuilt in engineering brick surmounted by a metal plate. Circular structure. Approximately 1.5m in diameter and 3.5m in height. The Barnton Tunnel was built between 1774 and 1777 by Hugh Henshall.
