Block Island Wind Farm is the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States, located 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Block Island, which lies about 10 miles off the coast of Rhode Island (and 14 miles northeast of Montauk Point, Long Island, NY). Operational in December 2016, it consists of 5 Haliade 150-6MW wind turbines (from GE Energy) with a combined nominal capacity of 30 MW.
