Pipariya is a city and a municipality in Hoshangabad district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is famous as it is the railhead for the military station and tourist destination of Pachmarhi. Pipariya is on the Itarsi Jabalpur railway line. Nearest airport is Bhopal (140Km). Pipariya is well connected by Railway Network because it lies between Mumbai-Allahabad Line, most of the trains going from Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh & Bihar is going via Pipariya

Near Pipariya, there is a beautiful hill station, Pachmari. Pachmari is around 52 KM from this city. Taxis and buses are available at good frequency for to and fro journey.
Pachmari has its significance since Mahabharata. Complementing the magnificence of nature are the works of man; Pachmarhi is also an archaeological treasure-house. In cave shelters in the Mahadeo Hills is an astonishing richness in rock paintings. Most of these have been placed in the period 500-800 AD, but the earliest paintings are an estimated 10,000 years old.

  • Nice to find Pipariya up here and even great to find an old class mate Rajesh malviya's post. I have heard pretty bad report about law & order condition on my last india visit. Those Paliyas and Balaram gang are still shooting at each other... Grew up there on Pachmarhi road and attended Jai Hind and RNA school.
