EMPEROR GOLD MINING COMPANY LIMITED ESTABLISHED NILSEN HIGH SCHOOL IN 1969.THE LATE Mr.E.NILSEN DONATED A TRUST FUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SCHOOL.THE MAIN PURPOSE OF BUILDING THE SCHOOL WAS TO EDUCATE CHILDERN OF THE MINER WORKERS IN VATUKOULA,ENCOMPASSING AREAS IN THE NEARBY TAVUA AND SURROUNDING RURAL VILLGES.
IN 1969,NUMBER OF MEETING AND DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE WITH ALL REPRESENTATIVES OF RACES UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF Mr.O.H.MARSHALL. THE MAIN HOPE OF ALL WAS TO PROVIDE SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION AT VATUKOULA, WHICH WOULD GREATLY REDUCE THE COST OF SENDING CHILDERN TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS ELSEWHERE.
FORTUNATELY,THE LATE Mr.N.E.WILSON DONATED A TRUST FUND FOR THIS PURPOSE,AND WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE EMPEROR GOLD MINING COMPANY LIMITED,HASTENED THE CONSTRUCTION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NILSEN HIGH SCHOOL.
FORTUNATELY,ALSO,Mr.JEAN MARSHALL WAS A HIGHLY QUALIFIED SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER AND WAS ABLE TO ORGANISE THE OPENING OF THE SCHOOL FOR THE STUDENT WITH A MINIMUM OF DELAY UNDER THE HELPFUL ASSISTANCE OF THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT.
WE ARE ALSO GRATEFUL TO THE EMPEROR GOLD MINING COMPANY LIMITED UNDER THE GENEROUS LEADERSHIP OF Mr.JEFFREY REID, CHAIRMAN OF DIRECTORS. AND OUR HEARTFELT THANKS TO THE EARLY PIONEERS FOR THEIR PROGRESSIVE EFFORTS IN ADVANCING THE FUTURE EDUCATION OF OUR CHILDERN.
IN 1997 EGM OFFICIALLY HANDED OVER THE MANAGEMENT OF NILSEN HIGH SCHOOL TO THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
IN 2006,THE SCHOOL HAD MOVED TO A NEW LEVEL OF PURSUING EXCELLECE IN EDUCATION AS IT ESTABLISHED THE FORMERLY KNOWN NILSEN HIGH SCHOOL AS THE ALL NEW, NILSEN COLLEGE.

  • Isei Naqia Current Principal. This is my second year, the school can return to its old golden days. Main facilities or structures are there which we are fortunate off however it needs alot of make over to the facilities and introducing of new technological tools to enhance the students learning, Last year we had manged to achieved our target to transform the name of the school for what it has been known for in the last five or more so years. the focus for this year is to STEP UP from where we left over from last year.
