  • Neglected park? I pass it every day and by modern, budget constrained standards it looks quite OK, Obviously, if it had its original 3 park keepers rather than part time care from mobile council gangs, things would be different. However, the Manchester a economy is very different from that in more prosperous times gone by and we have to live in the world as it is, not how we wish it might be. A cheap jibe is just that. When negative comment is not accompanied by positive, practical and realistic suggestions of how matters may realistically be improved it's known as whinging. Anyone can whinge, it's a waste of time and breath useful only for identifying the whinger as someone who no positive contribution to make in respect that about which they're whinging. Here are two positive suggestions: if you don't like this park, either help improve it or find another that you do like. Thank you.
  • I could not of put it any better myself. Ten years ago there was over 800 staff involved in the running of parks in Manchester. in 2016 there are less than 90 grounds staff covering 120 parks around 8 million square meter of amenity land open to the public. By the next round of cuts the staffing levels will be reduced by 25%. If it wasn't for the people of Manchester working with the Council staff our parks would be wastelands
