    I am trying to locate the family homestead in this area that use to belong to John Jacobsen Hegnes and his wife Helene Marie Torgersdatter-Dotset. They came to South Dakota in 1873 from Decorah, Iowa. They eventually moved to Canton, SD. They had 13 children--a son Claus T. Hegnes who was business manager of Dakota State Bank of Baltic.
