The Abbey of Rosazzo (east of Manzano) was founded, according to tradition, around 800. The Church of Saint Peter (San Pietro) was consecrated in 1070. The Augustianian monks were eventually succeeded by the Benedictines in 1091, and they by the Dominicans in 1522. The medieval abbey was destroyed by fire in 1509 and rebuilt two decades later. The abbey also became a summer residence for the bishops of Udine, who also assumed the title of marquis of Rosazzo.
