Birthday of the poetess is celebrated on June 23rd.
June 23, 2017 in Kiev, the solemn opening of the monument of the famous poetess of Ukrainian origin Anna Akhmatova.
The author of the monument is the Kiev sculptor Alexander Stelmashenko. The initiators of the installation of the monument became a group of Kyivans, among them the head of Inter Media Group Anna Bezlyudnaya and the editor-in-chief of the Inter TV channel Anton Nikitin.
It is noted that the monument decided to establish it in the Mariinsky Park because of one incident that happened to the poetess in his childhood.
One day, while walking with her sister and nurse from the Mariinsky Palace, little Anya found a pin in the form of a lyre. Nurse then told Anna that it means that she will become a poetess. And Akhmatova became - she published a poem as early as 11 years.
Anna Akhmatova (real name - Gorenko) - poet of the Silver Age, translator and literary critic, one of the most significant figures of Russian literature of the XX century. In 1965 and 1966 she was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. She was born in Odessa in 1889, from 1906 to 1910 she studied in Kiev. She died in 1966 in Domodedovo.
