The salon and the building next to it (3404) sit on what was formerly the first location of the Tick Tock Tea Room. Before that, it was the Laurel Crest Tea Room. Art and Helen Johnson from Minnesota drove their car to Los Angeles in 1930 and sold the car for $500 to buy the Laurel Crest. The Tick Tock would move several more times before settling in at the final location at 1716 Cahuenga. The Tick Tock closed its doors for good in 1988.
