The German Instrument of Surrender for World War II was signed at this location at 02:41 hours local time on 7 May 1945 . The site is now a museum, where La Salle de la Signature (the Signing Room) has been preserved in the state it was in at the time of the signing. The room is listed as an historical monument in France.
