The main shop in St. Gallen (Saint-Gall, Sankt Gallen, or San Gallo), then situated at Butcher Alley, was established in 1917 by the dynasty founder Fritz Sprenger. Some years later the atelier moved to New Alley.

Thanks to its longevity, Sprenger Violin Making has built up an impressive collection of instruments and bows, as well as a constantly growing knowledge which has been passed on from generation to generation.

At the main shop in St. Gallen we offer an impressive collection of violins, violas, cellos and double basses as well as their bows of all sizes and prices. You will find instruments of all schools and periods. Of course, you will also find a large choice of cases, covers, strings and other accessories.

In our ateliers, all work is carried out with the greatest care and competence. Of course, you will be provided with an estimate for any necessary work. Also your bow will be re-haired and repaired according to your wishes in the shortest possible time.

We also offer an excellent tonal adjustment service. In an environment free of time constraints, we work with the musician to bring out the particular tone and characteristics desired of their instrument. We would be pleased to help you.

Thanks to its location in the beautiful pedestrian area of St. Gallen, you can reach us conveniently by car or train within a few minutes walk. In the morning you can park for a couple of minutes in front of our shop for reloading instruments.
