Young artists came into Balsan Village where time had long ago stopped. They began to make gardens along the alley, a patch of land at a time, giving back the life the neighborhood had lost.
Between Gwangjucheon Stream and Balsan Village, they made a bridge called "Ppongppong Bridge" made of iron rods that had been discarded at construction sites. The bridge made by artists Shin Ho-yoon and Choi Yoon-mi symbolizes the connection of various people and thoughts through art.
Murals at the village entrance, vegetable gardens in abandoned plots, and sculptural works scattered here and there make the entire village a living gallery. Cheongchun Village conducts the Public Art Residency Project designed to invite young people to live and create in the village. Visitors can receive a village tour and take part in various events and experience programs like "Eating a Meal Made by Villagers" as well as docent services at monthly exhibitions of artists from Korea and abroad.
