This is the site of the original Greendale Country Club, registered with the Greendale TMB in 1901. At some point the property became a domestic residence, and remained as such until it's demolition in approx 1977. The property boasted a very productive well (later covered with old railway sleepers) and steel-cabled hand winch, an abundance of magnificent indigenous trees (mostly msasa), and a driveway affectionately known as the "round-about". The fireplace and chimney, which were relatively recent additions to the property remained standing for a couple of years later the demolition, but was eventually brought down too. The bricks from the house were used in extending the property at 23 Wiltshire Road. The Coronation Ave property was left abandoned when the owners left the country in the late 70s. Not much is known since, how the current owners came to "own" the property, what happened to all the beautiful trees.

It is known that there was illegal Ivory being trafficked from this property. See article in The Herald published 07-Jul-2005...
