A town in Mońki County, Podlachian Voivodeship, with 1,910 inhabitants (2006). The settlement of Goniądz dates back to the 13th century. In 1547 Goniądz, then a significant river port and trade centre, received town rights. One can still see remains of the 16th century town plan, as well as a monumental St. Agnes Church from 1920's.
Goniądz is attractively located on the Biebrza river and near Biebrza National Park, hence a lot of tourists come here every year. There is a beach, a sports equipment rental facility, and a hotel.
