  • This schol is a part of the Christian Brothers' Association founded in 1802 in Ireland. This school was first established in 1848 at Murgihata as Calcutta Male Orphanage (CMO). It was transferred to its present site at DumDum in 1947 as St. Mary's Orphanage (SMO).
  • can the exact location be marked. i hope the school doesn't take the entire region.it really takes a lot of of time to locate places as it all are unethically marked.thanks.
  • Picture posted above, taken in front of the school, between the playing fields. My brothers Basil& Lester, and cousin Henry Rentley are standing. Iam squatting in the front. We were fulltime boarders from 1950 when Br. Drew was the principal. Discipline was very strict and we often got the strap or cane for minor offences. The next principal,Br. O'connor was known around the school as 'Ajoo'. He appeared abit eccentric and spoke in a single monotone voice. He was not very popular and did not have a sense of humour. Sometimes we were taken for swims to the Cossipore club, Gramaphone factory or to 'Bhagats' tank where I nearly drowned. Class master... Br. Keane. DENZIL BROWN
