The latest contribution in the struggle to keep the floody hydraulics of the Haihe basin under control, the Haihekou Pumping Station will be a sluice system at the connection of the Donggu Fishing Channel and the Haihe mouth. It is intended to increase the drainage capacity of the nearby Haihe Tidal Barrier in case of river swells. It is supposed to enter full commission in 2017. It has seven tubular shaft pumps of 11.2 megawatts, with a pumping capacity for 230 cubic meters/second.
