In the year 1053, the building is already the parochial church, paying tithes to St. Sauveur le Vicomte, from Cherbourg. The monks of this abbey served this parish during of numerous centuries. Built on a very displayed site, the church was dedicated by the monks, in "St. Peter in the desert". Measuring 12 x 5,8 m, the church of origin occupied the exact location of the sanctuary and the current choir. The nave and the western wall were added in 1167 and the following enlargement taken place in the XIVth century, with the addition of the south path and the chapel in the North of the choir. The last extension will be made in 1886, by the north highly-rated enlargement. This final extension took place to help welcome the soldiers who were a member of the militia of Jersey parked on the island until 1926 and accommodated in the barracks of St. Peter.
