The monastery is believed to have been built around 1636. According to other options, the aisle of the Panagia (Virgin Mary) was built in the 13th century and St Anthony in the 15th century. The monastery was a dependency of St George Gorgolainis monastery and was probably destroyed by an earthquake in 1856.
Here we discern the destroyed two-aisled church that was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St Anthony. The south wall, the only one still standing belongs to the nave of St Anthony. The wall bears unique windows with gothic and oriental features.
Behind the temple we see the ruined cells and next to the road we meet the former fountain of the monastery, which brought water from a nearby spring.
