The archaeological site of ancient Laos (Greek; Latin, Laus) is located east of Marcellina, a part (frazione) of Santa Maria del Cedro, on the hill of San Bartolo. According to tradition, Laos was founded in 510 BC by refugees from Sybaris, after their town was conquered and destroyed by Kroton (Crotone).
