(Indo-Tibet Buddhist Cultural Institute) The ITBCI School was established in 1954 by his eminence the 2nd Dhardo Rinpoche,(The 13th lineage right from Nyingmapa school),with the aims and objects to teach Tibetan language and to preserve her old age traditional culture. Indeed, it is the 1st and oldest Tibetan school in India. It is charitable institute providing the basic education for the under previledge children.Though it is the school for the Tibetan and Bhutias , admission is open to all irrespective of caste, creed or religion.The medium of instruction is English; Nepali and Tibetan is taught as second language.Every Saturday there are classes for cultural activities.Without the extraordinary efforts of the tibetans in India and Institution like ITBCI School in kalimpong it is likely that the Tibetan language would have detoriated by all means.The school has been contributing a lot in the field of Tibetan culture, producing many good musician and dancers.

  • As a school is helping not only for the poor children but more important is that it is doing a great service for the preserving and researching for the valuable Tibetan culture.To pay gratitute to the founder of the school -His Eminence Dhardo Rinpoche, the ITBCIANS (ALUMINI)has erected a statue of the founder at ITBCI School on the august day of golden jublee.
