This golf course closed in 2006, after 50 years of operation. In 2003 a group of Bakersfield investors purchased it and renamed it Valle Grande Golf Course, but it lost money; then in 2006 it was sold to a group of three Los Angeles investors that planned 425 homes for the the 110-acre property, including a 6-acre park. The economic downturn (which hit Bakersfield particularly hard) took care of any of those dreams.
