The Lafarge Bath Cement Plant has been producing materials for the construction industry at it Bath current location since 1973. Situated atop a dense formation of Limestone, the plant quarries its raw material onsite and transports it to the cement kiln by means of a 1.5km long conveyor. Once in the kiln, the limestone is mixed with other raw materials and heated to over 1450 degrees Celsius to become clinker, which is then cooled, mixed with gypsum and ground into a fine powder known as portland cement. Once powdered, the cement is shipped in bulk by rail, truck and a fleet of Lafarge-owned freighters throughout the Great Lakes Region.

Currently the plant employs 105 full-time workers and up to 60 contract firms may also be on site performing various tasks.
