A 1 Hectare village green registered by Newcastle City Council in 2011 on the application of local people. The green has been used for recreation, sport and community activities since it was created in the early 1960s when the housing estate it is part of,was built. A proposal to build on it in 2010 caused residents to act to have it safeguarded in perpetuity. The green cannot now be built on although the land is owned by a national development company. It has an informal 5 a aide football pitch which is well used by local children. Since the green was registered 10 trees have been planted in the South Eastern corner and local residents have plans to plant a small community orchard (about 15 to 20 fruit trees) on it. Currently the ground is maintained (grass cutting) by the city council.
