A quiet temple with connections to the Imperial Family that was founded in 703 and moved to its current location in eastern hills of Kyoto in 1665. Bishamondo is primarily known for its autumn leaves that rival the best in Kyoto. The temple also has a collection of weeping sakura that bloom in Spring including one tree that is over 150 years old. Some of the temple's buildings were relocated from Kyoto's Imperial Palace.
