  • I'm related to DS Atkins, died July 1916. Why is he here when the British didn't take Lille until 1918?
  • I visited the cemetary in December 2008. Two or three graves are 1914, presumably original BEF. One 1916 - DS Atkins, the remainder are November 1918 and 1919 - presumably deaths whist in hospital. I've found that DS Atkins was serving in Plugstreet, went on a trench raid on 27th July 1916, was listed as missing. So, presumably he was wounded, captured and received treatment in the German hospital in Lille, dying of wounds 29th July.
  • My relative Private Herbert Sharp (b. 1886 Stradishall, Suffolk) of the Royal Army Service Corps is buried at the cemetery (grave 1:B:3.) He died in the nearby No. 11 Casualty Clearing Station of illness on Thursday, 26th December 1918.
