Three 6" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 1901 to 1928.

Battery Stanton was named on May 15, 1903 in honor of Captain Henry W. Stanton, 1st U.S. Dragoons, who was killed January 19, 1855 in action with Apache Indians in the Sacramento Mountains, New Mexico.
