  Yet another product of the egomaniacs of the so-called Mississippi Department of Transportation, this entire stretch of highway and overpass was built only to serve a housing development that has never taken off (see references at Traditions). No doubt much money changed hands to make this happen. It was passed off to the taxpaying public as being an escape avenue for people fleeing hurricanes, when in fact it simply moves the motoring public further north by 15 miles, where they can get gridlocked in Saucier, Mississippi, assuming of course that they can figure out the convoluted routing of this travesty of a public highway.
