Named for Edward Weston, among the five or six most important artists in the history of American photography. Weston's classic seascape photos on Point Lobos during the 1930s and 1940s contributed to the preservation of this area as a state park. When Weston died of Parkinson's disease on the first day of 1958, his ashes were scattered on this beach. When his sons Brett (1993) and Cole (2003) died, their ashes were also scattered here. Sort of the family cemetery, as it were. E.W. on Weston Beach 1945, photo by Imogen Cunningham.
