Yongjangsa, or Yongjang Temple, was part of Yongjangs Fortess when it was established.
Seated Stone Buddha in Yongjangsa:
This severely damaged stone statue is a statue of Ah-Hih-Tah-Yeo-Rae(Amitabha Buddha) of the Goryeo Dynasty that is housed at Yongjangsa.
A Buddha with a squared nimbus is seated on a pedestal. A single-lobed pattern is engraved on the nimbus looks like the back of a chair. This statue of Buddha has a shaven head like Jih-Jang-Bo-Sal (a guardian deity of children), its face is rounded and its thick eyebrows, small eyes, long nose and moderate-sized mouth are unshapely but well-balanced. It has a small chest but larges shoulders and arms.
The lower part of Buddha sitting cross-legged is unnaturally big and high, which gives an unbalanced sense of proportion, characteristic of Buddha statues in the Goryeo Dynasty. This statue of Buddha lowers its right hand puts its left hand on its knee. In his left hand is a lotus flower. The two feet on its knees are not well formed. The satin-like robe draping over the Goryeo Dynasty.
The two Bodhisattvas (Buddhist saints) on either side are similar to the statue of Ah-Mih-Tah-Yeo-Rae in the center. They are naked to the waist and their lower parts are clad in graceful folds of cloth. The left Bodhisattva measures 1.64m high and the right one measures1.70m high. Many parts have been remolded with cement, altering some of the original contours.
