The waters of Chenab begin from the snow melt from the Bara Lacha Pass in Himachal Pradesh (HP),india. Waters flowing south from the pass are known as the Chandra River and those that flow north are known as Bhaga River. Eventually the two Rivers meet at Tandi, HP ,to form the Chandrbhaga River.Further downstream, this River becomes Chenab when it is joined by the Marau River at Bhandera Kot,12km from Kishtwar town in J&K. It flows from the Jammu region of J&K into the plains of Punjab, forming the boundary between the Rechna and Jech interfluves ( or, Doabs in Persian). It is joined by its right bank tributary Jhelum River just before the TRIMMU Barrage, Punjab, Pakistan.
Trimmu Barrage is situated downstream of the confluence of the River Jhelum some 25 km from the city of JHANG, and near the village of Atharan Hazari. Trimmu Barrage is used to control water flow into the River Chenab for irrigation and flood control purposes, and was constructed between 1937 and 1939 by English engineer, primarily as a flood control mechanism to protect the city of Jhang from floods. The arched grid iron's bridge section is integrated with several protective bands(Wikipedia).
The Chenab is then joined from the left side by the Ravi River near Ahmedpur Sial of Punjab province, Pakistan. It is finally joined from the left side by the Sutlej near Uch Sharif, Pakistan to form the Panchnad or ‘Five Rivers’, the fifth being the Beas River joining the Sutlej from the right side at Harike Wet Land near Ferozepur, India.
The Chenab finally joins the INDUS River at Mithankot, Pakistan. The total length of the Chenab River is approximately 960km,(SikhiWiki).
